I have the song, “Tubthumping”, by Chumbawamba running through my head.

You know….

I get knocked down
But I get up again
You’re never gonna keep me down

The song was released in 1997 but is still true today.

Have you ever felt that you were getting knocked down from every angle? That it didn’t matter what you did or who you tried to please, you got knocked down.

I think we have all been through those tough times. Surrounded by the darkness. You just feel like crawling up into a ball and never moving. Lock the doors, close the blinds, stay in the darkness. Give up.

Why get up because you are just going to get knocked back down again! And then you start crying out, “Why? Why me?”

Darkness befor the light

But then as you are lying there, curled up in the fetal position, you have a small thought come into your being. (OR is it that you are now still enough to hear the voice that has been trying to talk to you all along but you were too busy kicking and screaming to listen?)

Sometimes you have to get knocked down lower than you’ve ever been, to stand up taller than you than you ever were. ~Unknown

As you lie there, you begin to replay events that have happened, almost like a movie replaying the scenes. But this time you are viewing it not as a participant but as an outsider. Outside of yourself and your emotions.

And as you are viewing it, you realize that there are lessons in each one of those events. The more devastating the experience, the greater the lesson you were able to learn.

Thank the Past Lessons

A peace starts to flood you as you lie there and you start to unfold yourself; slowly pushing yourself up to a sitting position as you view more of your life lessons; feeling a greater peace.

As you stand up again, you find yourself standing more erect. Stronger. Taller. Chin up and shoulders back. You thank the past for the lessons it has taught you. You are ready for the future with the strength and knowledge you have learned and take with you.

(Can’t you just hear the music playing when the Hero realizes that nothing can stop him?)

There is absolutely no guarantee that you will never get knocked down again. There is no guarantee that you will not be surrounded by darkness.

BUT

Going forward, I guarantee that if you take the lessons learned with you and the strength of what you have experienced, you WILL get up!Life knocks me down

You WILL get up faster!

You WILL see the LIGHT brighter!

You WILL be stronger!

You WILL feel an inner peace that will carry you through whatever lessons life throws at you.

Share your thoughts in the comments!

What experiences have you overcome? What made you realize that you would come back stronger?

I love hearing from you.

Blessings,

Cheryl
